Glenn D. Hart

As Laredo Energy’s Chairman, CEO and a co-founder, Glenn D. Hart has contributed more than 30 years of experience to the company as a successful developer of oil and gas resources throughout South Texas.

Following graduation from Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mr. Hart began his career as an engineer in the late 1970s with Tenneco Oil Company’s Gulf Coast Division. He moved on to serve as an engineering manager for Sanchez-O’Brien Oil & Gas Company before taking over as president and CEO of Michael Petroleum in 1983.

In August 2001, Houston-based Michael Petroleum was sold to Calpine Natural Gas and, with other members of his management team, Mr. Hart formed Laredo Energy in October 2001.

Mr. Hart, an active sports entrepreneur, is the founding owner of the Laredo Bucks professional hockey team. He was the founder of Houston's current professional hockey team, the Houston Aeros, and was a co-owner of the New Orleans Zephyrs, a AAA minor league baseball team. He was a founder of the Aerodrome Ice Skating Complexes and serves as Chairman of the Arena Ventures, which owns the Laredo Bucks. Arena Ventures also developed the Laredo Entertainment Center, now known as Laredo Energy Arena, and the surrounding property. The facility is home to the Laredo Bucks. He is also a founder of the Arctic Wolf Ice Skating Complex, located in College Station, Texas.

Mr. Hart is a registered professional petroleum engineer in the State of Texas, and holds membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

He remains an active alumnus of Texas A&M, having served a three-year term on the Executive Board of Texas A&M University’s 12th Man Foundation. He also held membership on the Chancellor’s Century Council and was a member of the Board of Visitors of the Corps of Cadets. He holds a seat on the University’s Petroleum Engineering Department Industry Board.

Mr. Hart and his wife, the former Lauren Langford, have three children, Michael, Katie Baskara and Landon, and a grandson, Caleb Zachary Baskara. He has served as a deacon of the Second Baptist Church of Houston.  Mr. Hart also previously served on the church’s Finance Committee.
