GARY R. PETERSEN

Gary R. Petersen is a co-founder and partner of EnCap Investments LLC. Previously, Petersen served as senior vice president and manager of the Corporate Finance Division of the Energy Banking Group for RepublicBank Corporation. Other former positions include executive vice president and a member of the board of directors of Nicklos Oil & Gas Company, and group vice president in the Petroleum and Minerals Division of RepublicBank Dallas. He also served in the U. S. Army in Washington, D. C., as a first lieutenant in the Finance Corps and as an officer in the National Security Agency.

Petersen holds BBA and MBA degrees in finance from Texas Tech University and has done post graduate studies at American University in Washington, D.C., and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

Professional memberships include the Petroleum Club of Houston, American Petroleum Institute, Independent Petroleum Association of America, Texas Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association, Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association and Houston Producers' Forum. Additionally, Petersen is a member of the board of directors of Nuevo Energy Inc., Equus II, Inc., Energy Capital Investment Company and Cordillera Energy.
